After the tragedy in Las Vegas over the weekend, security at the Heart of Texas Fair and Rodeo is being given a second look.

All bags brought into the fairgrounds will be checked and guests can expect security to wand each person as they enter for the day. Waco Police and Fair staff will be on the lookout for suspicious activity.

With the number of years that President Bush was part of the Waco area, local police say they've had a lot of experience in what they call "high risk" operations. They are prepared to make the fair a fun and safe event for central Texas. KCENTV posted the video above containing the security assessment from Waco Police at the fair staff.

This year's fair runs from October 5th to the 14th. Heart O' Texas Fair admission prices at the gate are $10 dollars for adults, $5 for kids 3 - 12 years of age, and kids 2 and under are free. Tickets to the All American Pro Rodeo Finals are $30 dollars.

The entertainment lineup for the year is fantastic! This year's lineup includes:

  • 1

    Wade Bowen - October 6th

  • 2

Josh Abbott Band - October 7th

  • 3

    Zane Williams - October 11th

  • 4

    Flatland Cavalry - October 12th
