Police in Temple are investigating after several grave markers were damaged or destroyed at a local cemetery over Labor Day weekend.

On Sunday, officers responded to Hillcrest Cemetery at 1601 N. Main St. in Temple. There, they discovered the damage which they believe occurred sometime between 5 p.m. Saturday and early Sunday.

Families who were notified were clearing away debris, torn flags, and spoiled flowers Sunday and Monday. Police have not said if they have any suspects, but are asking anyone who may have information to contact them at (254) 298-5500 or Crime Stoppers at (254) 526-8477. Information submitted to Crime Stoppers is kept confidential, callers may remain anonymous, and any tip leading to an arrest may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.
