The Killeen Fire Department is looking for new recruits, and no prior experience or certifications are required.

City of Killeen Director of Public Information Hilary Shine issued the following press release Tuesday morning:

Killeen Fire Department is recruiting to fill at least 37 probationary fire rescue officer positions. Applications will be accepted through December 31.

No certifications or experience are necessary to apply though preference or hiring incentives may be offered to candidates who have certifications or experience. Annual salary ranges from $41,983 to $62,254 dependent on qualifications.

Applicants must take the civil service examination January 7 and achieve a score of at least 70 to continue in the selection process. Those meeting the score requirement must then pass a mandatory physical fitness test January 16 and 17.

Candidates meeting all requirements may be selected for employment. If hired, candidates without certifications or experience will enter the Killeen Fire Academy.
