A Temple man is thankful to be alive after someone tried to shoot him outside of an apartment complex Monday. He lived to tell about the encounter because the shooter's gun jammed.

KWTX reports the victim and the gunman got into an argument over lunch Saturday that ended with the two individuals deciding they could not be friends. The victim began to receive threatening text messages, followed by the gunman showing up at the victim's residence looking for a fight.

When the victim stepped outside his apartment near the intersection of Yorkshire Dr. an Saulsbury, the suspect tried to shoot him, but the gun jammed. The victim grabbed the gun as the suspect tried to load another round, then ran away and jumped into the back of a pickup truck, telling the driver to keep going because someone was trying to kill him.

Police say they have made an arrest in the case and the suspect is in custody.
