Two people are being treated for hypothermia in a Temple hospital after being stranded on Belton Lake overnight.

Our news partner, KWTX, reports that the pair were found huddled together under a blanket on their pontoon early Tuesday morning. The two reportedly set out Monday around 8 PM. When weather conditions became wet and cold, they tried to head back to shore but were unable to start their motor.

Morgan's Point firefighters and a game warden rescued the couple and took them to Pier 36 Marina, where an ambulance was standing by. The woman was reportedly incoherent and having difficulty moving.

No other injuries were reported.

This is a scary reminder of how important it is to keep emergency supplies like blankets, water, and food aboard your vessel, and to leave a float plan with friends or loved ones back on shore so they know where to send help if they don't hear from you. And, as always, wear those life vests!
