New Bill Could Mean The End Of Texas State Vehicle Inspections

A couple years ago, Texas got rid of the stickers you place on your vehicle showing your car passed the state inspection, and now a new bill could eliminate the vehicle inspection altogether.

State Senator Don Huffines says the 66-year-old vehicle inspection program is a "relic of the past", and a tax on Texan's time.

He argues that vehicle design has vastly improved over the years, and his bill (SB 1588) would direct resources to hiring and training troops to spot drivers operating vehicles unsafely.

Huffines says everyone will save the $7 cost of the inspection. The Tax cut would save millions and eliminating the inspection would save the state some 9 million working hours according to Huffine's statement.
