The crash occurred shortly after 3 a.m. in the 2700 block of Lake Road. Police had received an early morning call about a woman breaking windows in a house in the 2000 block of Coach Drive. When authorities arrived at the scene, the woman drove away in a white Chevy Malibu. Police began the pursuit as the woman turned off her headlights. The woman reportedly ran a stop sign at the intersection of Lake Road and Shoemaker Drive and then drove her vehicle into the apartment building. The collision caused the front end of the car to ignite. The building was evacuated, displacing 16 residents.

None of the residents are reported to be injured. The woman in the car was removed from the vehicle and taken to Scott and White Hospital in Temple with a broken ankle.
