In May, Aaron Watson announced his October headlining special, A Night of Texas, at Ryman Auditorium in Nashville; but in light of the recent devastation from Hurricane Harvey here in his home state of Texas, there’s been one change.

Today The Honky Tonk Kid announced that he’s turned this special show into a Hurricane Harvey Benefit.

According to the press release:

Amidst a string of sold out shows nationwide, Aaron Watson is preparing for his October 4 headlining date at Music City’s iconic Ryman Auditorium. Opening for this date will be fellow acts all from the great state of Texas including Jon Wolfe, Mickey Guyton, Jim Collins and Leslie Satcher, to present “A Night of Texas Music” benefitting American Red Cross Hurricane Harvey response efforts. Tickets start at only $25 and can be purchased HERE.  Proceeds from the show will be donated to the Red Cross.

It’s been nearly four weeks since Hurricane Harvey devastated parts of Texas and Louisiana, and the Red Cross continues to provide shelter, food, relief supplies and more to people in need. Red Cross response vehicles and volunteers are fanning out across neighborhoods to distribute nutritious meals and relief supplies, such as diapers, bug spray, cleaning supplies, coolers, and comfort kits that contain deodorant, toothbrushes, toothpaste and other hygiene items. Red Cross disaster workers are also providing health services such as replacing lost medications and eyeglasses, emotional support and spiritual care to people affected by this devastating storm

In his original announcement Watson said, ” I’m excited about this one. We’re calling it “A Night of TEXAS at The Ryman,”and I have some very special guests joining me. First is Jim Collins and Leslie Satcher who are amazing songwriters and I’ve had the pleasure of writing with them both. Oh yeah, they’ve also written #1 hits for a guy named George Strait Then we have Mickey Guyton who is one of the best female voices in country music. Last we’re bringing my good bud Jon Wolfe up.”

Now the Abilene native is just as excited to help out his fellow Texans, “It is such an honor to headline the iconic Ryman stage, and having the opportunity to turn this into a benefit for all of the folks in Southeast Texas who really need our help is going to make it an extra special night,” says Watson. “Really grateful for the chance to give back.”

The Mother Church of Country Music may never be the same.
