The Bloods and Crips, two infamous gangs normally associated with big coastal cities, have established a large presence in Texas, according to a new report.

KWTX shares a report from the Texas Department of Public Safety released Wednesday dubbed the Texas Gang Threat Assessment.

It's says the the gangs, made famous in Hollywood movies and countless songs, have a "significant presence" in both McLennan and Bell counties. They're also making themselves known  in Travis, Bexar, Williamson, Victoria, and Hays counties.

It should really come as no surprise. After all, big business has been flocking to Texas from California, so why wouldn't the business of crime do the same.

The report also says that gangs in Texas are responsible for "high levels of violence throughout the state" including murder, armed robber, aggravated assault, and sex trafficking.

One member of the Crips was busted in 2017 in a undercover prostitution sting in Waco. It seems he was transporting a woman from Mississippi to Texas with the intent to compel prostitution.

The gangs in Texas are also "heavily involved in the trafficking of meth, heroin, cocaine, and marijuana", according to the report.

Also, motorcycle gangs are still battling for Texas dominance.

Governor Greg Abbot said, "The findings in this report are further evidence that the State of Texas must continue to do all it can to proactively and aggressively combat gangs operating in our state. Over the last few years, we have expanded the number of Texas Anti-Gang Centers, and initiated and supported violent crime task forces in our state. With gangs continuing to pose a serious threat to public safety in Texas, our residents can rest assured that we will remove these ruthless criminals from the streets and bolster the safety and security of our communities."
