Three people were injured and over a dozen cows killed when a truck hauling cattle overturned in Temple Thursday morning.

KWTX reports that the 18-wheeler transporting the animals collided with a Toy0ta Tundra pickup truck at the intersection of Martin Luther King Dr. and Southwest HK Dodgen Loop after one of the vehicles ran a stop sign.

Both drivers and a passenger were hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.

Two cows escaped, and area ranchers were working to remove the remaining animals from the overturned trailer Thursday afternoon.
