Attempted Child Kidnapping Tuesday in Waco

Waco Police are investigating an attempted kidnapping.

KWTX is reporting that Waco Officers responded to  a call around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at the 2900 block of Morrow Avenue.

It seems a woman grabbed a 5-year-old and ran.

The child's mother told police that she saw the woman acting strangely so she called her kids in the house. That's when the woman grabbed the 5-year-old and started to run.

Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said..."The mother of the child immediately went after the suspect and child and started yelling for the child to fight the suspect."

That's what the child did. The woman put down the child and fled with another family member in pursuit.

Latonya Monique Kelsey, 36, was arrested and is in the McLennan County Jail charged with kidnapping. Bond was set at $15,000.
