Bell County Fire Marshal Stephen M. Casey would like to see lighters that look like toys banned.

Casey, along with many other members of the Fire Marshal Association of Bell County feel that the lighters are designed in such a way that they will attract children to play with them, and that child-proof mechanisms required by law are not enough to stop children from harming themselves or starting fires with the devices.

Valero and CEFCO stores have already volunteered to stop selling the lighters. Casey says the Fir Marshall Association will seek legislative action if other stores do not follow the example.
