Belton Community Mourns Passing of Rachael Westberg

Belton New Tech Principle Ben Smith sent word to parents and students last night of the sad news that Rachael Westberg had passed away in the hospital after a hit-and-run accident that took place last Saturday.

Rachael was out jogging on Industrial Park Road in Belton when the accident left her with skull fractures and brain injuries according to our news partners at KWTX. A suspect has been charged.

A Go Fund Me Page has been set up for Rachael's family. The page is already exceeding the requested goal of donations for medical expenses but additional funds will help this family lay their loved one to rest. It shows how much people cared for Rachael and how the Belton community is going out of their way to support the Westbergs after this tragedy.

Belton ISD Superintendent Dr. Susann Kincannon said Rachael was known for beautiful singing voice as part of the Belton High School Canto Choir. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and classmates.
