During a Belton ISD school board meeting Monday, trustees approved both a raise for district employees and an increase in health plan contributions.

According to district representative Kyle DeBeer, Belton ISD employees will receive  a raise equal to two-percent of the midpoint of their salary range. That means an increase of $1,200 for teachers, librarians, and nurses.

The new compensation plan will increase the district's monthly health plan contribution by $25 to $375 in anticipation of health plan rate increases beginning September 1. District officials said the increase will ensure that the least expensive individual plan will remain available without an additional contribution from employees, and will bring Belton ISD closer to the average monthly contribution of other school districts in Central Texas.

“From the school bus to the classroom and everywhere in between, our employees make a difference in our students’ lives,” board president Randy Pittenger said at Monday's meeting. “That’s why recruiting and retaining outstanding employees is a priority for our school board and the community we serve. This compensation plan ensures that Belton ISD will remain competitive with other districts in our market.”
