The Belton Police Department is teaming up with area businesses for the second annual Silver Santa program to benefit local seniors living alone.

Silver Santa will deliver care packages to over 130 participants in Belton PD's RU OK? Senior Outreach Program this holiday season.

If you'd like to help, you can purchase a pre-packaged gift bag at the Belton Walmart (2604 N Main St.) or visit donation boxes located at the Belton Police Department, the BPD North Sub-Station, HEB, the Belton Chamber of Commerce, or Belton McDonald's.

These are the items they hope to collect for Silver Santa gift baskets:

New Lap Blankets
New Socks
New Hats
New Gloves
Hand Sanitizer
Kleenex
Chapstick/Lip Balm
Puzzles/Word Books
Compact Mirrors
Large Print Playing Cards
Blank Journals
Small Flashlights
Lotion
Jar Openers
Therma Care Pads
Band Aids

The RU OK? Senior Outreach Program is a free service that sets up times for Belton seniors to receive a weekly phone call asking if they're OK. It gives those seniors a chance to talk about any issues they're facing and receive the appropriate help.

Applications for seniors or family members interested in the program can pick up a registration form at the Belton Police Department or online by clicking here.
