The 30th Annual National Night Out is coming up on October 1, and the Belton Police Department needs your help to make this year’s event another success.

The department is looking for citizens interested in hosting neighborhood block parties as part of the crime prevention event that saw 16 block parties held in Belton alone. Volunteers will compete in the “Best Block Party” contest, with special recognition going to the most creative party.

Anyone interested in volunteering may call 254-933-5844 or email police@beltontexas.gov.

This year’s National Night Out will be held on Tuesday, October 1 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. In 2012, over 10,000 communities across the United States participated.
