Killeen, Texas Business Facing Criticism After Viral Video Involving Cat

One business in Killeen, Texas, Bite The Bagel is currently facing complaints after video surfaced on social media. Here's what we know so far.

The Posting Of The Video, And Subsequent Response

According to the Killeen Daily Herald, Kaay Wilson, a resident of the city of Killeen, was waiting in the drive-thru line of the eatery. While sitting in her car, she observed a cat that given to worker via the drive-thru window. Following her noticing of the event, she began a recording.

The video, which she shared with the Herald, Wilson captured the cat being returned to the cat through the previously mentioned drive-thru window. Wilson then took to social media, posting the video to a Facebook group. Wilson, when interviewed stated:

“They were in there for a while. I saw them pass the cat into the window, then I waited there for about 5 to 8 minutes. The way it was situated was the kitchen was 2 feet away and the drinks are made right where the cat was, so I’m like’ ‘that cat is still in the kitchen.’”

Wilson, also according to the Killeen Daily Herald, reported the incident to the county health department. At the time of writing, they have not responded.

Owner Responds To The Video

The Herald also revealed that Sara Vermurlen Januszka, the owner of Bite The Bagel, commented on the video, stating that:

“The person that was in the drive thru with the kitten had just picked them up and came there because she didn’t know what else to do with them and thought we could help. She is a family friend and not a rescue. Was it a poor lapse in judgement for our employee to take the kitten inside through the window, of course it was. And we have already spoke to him. But this is not and never has been a normal everyday occurrence.”
