Almost a month to the day of a previous story of a raccoon in Copperas Cove being found with rabies, Copperas Cove Animal Control are once again asking residents to keep a close eye on their pets after another raccoon was found to be carrying rabies.

According to a press release, animal control officers impounded a raccoon at 1602 Connie Avenue and sent it to the Texas Department of Health Laboratory in Austin for testing where it was found to have been infected with rabies.

Any citizen who belives they, their pet, or has knowledge of a person or animal having any contact with a raccoon or other wild animal in this area should immediately contact Copperas Cove Animal Control at (254) 547-5584 Monday through Friday between 9AM and 5PM. - Copperas Cove Police Department 

After hours calls should be made to the Copperas Cove Police Department at (254) 547-8222 and contact your physician and or veterinarian in the case of a possible animal exposure.
