The city of Waco will continue to provide free rides for Waco ISD students this fall.

KWTX reports Free bus rides will once again be offered to students of Waco ISD who present a valid student ID when boarding.

Waco ISD will pay the city $45,000 to cover the cost of around 20,000 trips to school. Waco Transit conducted a pilot program in 2013-2014 which kept track of the number of students riding city buses to school. That year the number of rides totaled 18,786

Students can take advantage of the free rides from August 24, 2018, to August 31, 2021. The renewal of the free rides was passed unanimously by council members on Tuesday.
