Nearly three months after Craig Strickland's body was found after a hunting trip went terribly wrong, his cause of death has been revealed.

According to E! News, who obtained Strickland's autopsy report from the medical examiner, the Backroad Anthem singer's death has been ruled an accident. Strickland died from hypothermia, the autopsy report states.

Strickland’s body was found on Jan. 4, a week after he left for a duck hunting trip with friend Chase Morland during Winter Storm Goliath. The country singer was buried underneath a cedar tree on Jan. 12 in Arkansas.

“We found Craig under a cedar tree, and so it was only fitting that we should find one for him to rest under,” his wife, Helen, captioned an Instagram photo, taken at his burial grounds.

Helen was vocal with fans on social media throughout the search for her husband, asking for prayers and posting updates. After the memorial, she shared a note that she placed in her husband’s jacket pocket before he was buried.

“We held Craig’s memorial last night and we are already seeing God’s steadfast love through lives being changed due to hearing the legacy of Craig’s life and the message spoken about God’s unfailing love for us,” she writes. “I’ve loved receiving stories from people all over the world. It has truly been amazing hearing from everyone, and it shows me how much God justifies every action that changes the course of our lives."

Backroad Anthem will continue making country music, telling Taste of Country that they got the blessing of Strickland's family. "Craig’s dad has been amazing to us and Randy has given us his full blessing … Craig’s wife (Helen) as well," fellow singer Toby Freeman shares. "They all came to the shows.”

Craig Strickland was 29 years old at the time of his death.
