Julian Pesina’s double life of cop and drug dealer came to a stop when he was murdered in May 2014, but that killing shined a light on how the Texas Mexican Mafia works.

The F.B.I. had targeted officer Pesina back in 2014, and they were getting close to making an arrest. The Texas Mexican Mafia wasn't going to let that happen.

According to the Washington Post, the mafia found out he was a cop from Facebook and decided to kill him.

Pesina was a part owner of a tattoo shop, and it was where he ran his drugs out of. For the right to sell drugs, Pesina had to pay a "dime", or weekly tax. He got a call saying that he needed to pay his dime.

According to court documents, Jerry "Spooks" Idrogo, a sergeant in the Texas Mexican Mafia, went to meet Pesina. And when he got his money, had two men in masks come out from hiding and gun him down. It was all captured on video surveillance from the F.B.I.

This past Friday Spooks Idrogo pleaded guilty in federal court to one count of conspiracy to participate in a “Racketeering Influenced and Corrupt Organization.”

As part of the deal he admitted to the Pesina killing, as well as another mafia member, Billy Padilla from back in 2013. He faces life in prison at his November sentencing hearing.

Does this shine a light that we should legalize all drugs. After all, did we not learn anything from prohibition? When we take away something that people want, we open the door for them to get illegally. In turn, creating a criminal enterprise for someone to control. If we legalize it, then the only criminals running it will be our Government.
