Emancipet will be opening soon in Killeen, you can come find out what it’s all about at the “Get To Know Us” special event, Saturday, Feb 15 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., with free activities for the entire family.

Open House on Feb. 15 includes music, food vendors and free kids activities, like a bounce house and face painting.

So what is Emancipet? It’s a low cost healthy pet clinic, designed to cut down on the homeless pet population.  According to Emancipet, Bell County has between 7,000-8,000 homeless animals per year, and about half are euthanized.

Emancipet is trying to take care of that problem, making spay/neuter services and preventive veterinary care affordable and accessible to all pet owners through its low-cost clinics.

In Killeen the clinic is set up in a 48-foot gooseneck trailer at 208 West Avenue A, on the property of the United Way of the Greater Fort Hood Area.

“Solving animal homelessness is a movement that everyone in the community can be part of.”  Amy Mills of Emancipet said, “By helping to spread the word about Emancipet’s safe, affordable, spay/neuter and preventive services for pets, individuals and organizations can make Bell County a better place for animals.”
