CBS Dallas Forth Worth talked to the father of 35-year old James Boulware, the lone suspect in the shooting of the downtown Dallas Police Headquarters early Saturday morning.

73-year-old Jimmy Lee Boulware told CBS that "Johnny never had a complete balanced view of  his rights versus other people's rights."

He went on to say that his son blamed the police for taking his child away from him.

Boulware said that his son was "beaten down" by police and Child Protective services during a custody battle over his son. He also said that no police officers deserved to get shot at.

The 35-year-old Boulware was a high school dropout who regularly struggled with work and had run-ins with the law in the past, including assault and possession of drugs.
