In the latest effort to crack down on Medicare fraud, on Wednesday, state and federal agencies launched an early morning raid on what it says is one of the worst offenders of the crime--The Scooter Store.
Federal and state authorities raided the Scooter Store's corporate headquarters in New Braunfels, telling employees to gather their personal belongings and go home for the day.

They were told to leave their work space untouched and to not discuss the raid on social media or with any press outlets.

According to the company’s website, The Scoot Store supplies “power mobility solutions, including power wheelchairs, scooters, lifts, ramps, and accessories,” in addition to home care solutions and related services.

Founded in 1991 by Doug and Susanna Harrison, the company,  headquartered in New Braunfels, Texas, has locations and services in 48 states.According to the company’s website, the Harrison’s founded The Scooter Store “with the dream to help people with limited mobility regain freedom and independence.”

The Scooter Store was one of the major businesses that were focused on in a CBS News report about possible Medicare fraud that costs American Taxpayers an estimated $60 billion a year.

As of Wednesday evening, there was no mention of the raid on the company's blog.
