Bell County's grand jury indicted David Micheal Vega Wednesday for the August 2012 murder of his ex-girlfriend.

Vega, 29, was charged with stabbing Danielle Acosta-Guerrero, age 30, to death on August 17, 2012. Acosta-Guerrero's 6-year-old son was injured in that attack. The crime was committed at a home in the 2400 block of Haven in Killeen. Police were called to the home after a concerned neighbor and a jogger attempted to enter and provide assistance after hearing a woman scream. The two were unable to enter the home, but they saw a man through a window who they later described to police.

When officers arrived, they saw Acosta-Guerrero lying on the floor and forced entry into the home. Paramedics were called and performed CPR. She was then transported to a local hospital and pronounced dead shortly after. Her young son sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Vega was arrested on October 11, 2012 after two months on the run. Modesto, California His vehicle was found at a motel with stolen plates, and he was arrested without incident after police determined he was the owner and wanted for murder.
