Fort Hood Soldier Dead After Motorcycle Accident

1st Lt. Michael Skylar-Jones Pegues was pronounced dead at the Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center Sunday after a high-speed motorcycle accident.

Pegues was riding his Suzuki Hayabusa bike along Robinett Road in Killeen when he ran into a curb and crashed into a drainage ditch. Officers believe he was riding at a high speed when he ran a stop sign at the intersection of Edgefield and Robinett. Police arrived at the scene shortly before 12:30 a.m. Sunday after a witness reported the accident. Police say Pegues was wearing a helmet.

Pegues was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 5th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Calvary Division.
