Garth Brooks Performs ‘Mom,’ Brings Ellen to Tears [Watch]
The country superstar appeared on her talk show Tuesday (Nov. 25), breaking out an acoustic guitar during his sit down interview for a simple, heartfelt performance of the song.
"This is a conversation that goes on between God and this unborn child that's going down to Earth, and when God describes what a mom is, it just kills me," Brooks explains, shaking his head. "I'm gonna try to get through this. Forgive me if I don't ... I'm a mama's boy."
The song is one that Brooks has said could be as important as his all-time classic, 'The Dance.' His voice was choked with emotion as he delivered the emotional ballad, bringing not only DeGeneres, but many of her audience members to tears as well.
In a sharp contrast, Brooks also joined his full band for a performance of his raucous classic, 'Ain't Goin' Down ('Til the Sun Comes Up).' Watch that video below
'Mom' is the second single from Brooks' first new studio album in 13 years, 'Man Against Machine.'
