Yes, it's a little early to start celebrating Thanksgiving, but with the announcement of Greenberg Smoked Turkey Inc. reopening, I feel like celebrating early.

Texas Turkey Tradition

The Greenberg family up in Tyler have been smoking turkeys for 83 years now. The family business has grown so large that they smoke about 200,000 turkeys every holiday season. They even made Oprah Winfrey’s “Favorite Things” list in 2003.

2020 Fire Was Huge Setback

Last year was a tragic year in so many ways. The pandemic was certainly the worst part about 2020 by a long shot, but one of the other things that happened last year was the fire at Greenberg Smoked Turkey Inc. in Tyler, Texas.

The fire on November 6th destroyed part of the facility, and Greenberg ended up losing about 87,000 turkeys, including the one I ordered for my family's annual Thanksgiving tradition.

Turkey Time Is Back

At my household, we order a Greenberg Smoked Turkey every year, so breaking that tradition was tough.

Earlier today I got an email letting me know that they are officially back!

Greenberg Smoked Turkey Inc. is accepting orders for the 2021 Holiday season so it looks like my Thanksgiving tradition is back!

You Have To Try This Turkey

A Greenberg Smoked Turkey is seriously one of the best smoked turkeys you'll ever sink your teeth into.

Getting one of their turkeys delivered makes is an easy way to get your Thanksgiving meal prep done. Greenberg handles the turkey, and you handle the fixins.

Once the turkey arrives, you just refrigerate until you're ready to eat. The smoky smell of the turkey fills up the room, so trying not to "pick" at it 'til turkey day can be very tough.

Return to Thanksgiving Tradition

The holidays are a time for tradition, and getting back to the Greenberg Smoked Turkey after missing last year is a tradition I look forward to.

Top 20 Restaurants Central Texans Wish Would Come to Temple

A while back, I asked the good people of Temple if they could picture a good restaurant to fill the lot on North General Bruce Drive where the soon to be torn down Long John Silver's stood.

This was before it was announced that a Dutch Bros. Coffee location would open there (which was one of the places I predicted as a contender in our article).

So now Dutch Bros. is open in that spot, but the responses to my survey were interesting because they paint a picture of just how diverse Temple's population is. People recommended some familiar restaurants with locations in the surrounding area, but also a few I'd never even heard of.

Here are the top 20 results of the survey. Let's see what the good people of Temple are craving!
