17-year-old Anthony Dorsett of Harker Heights drowned this past Friday after going swimming at the popular Central Texas swimming hole, Hamilton Pool, just outside of Austin, Texas.

Dorsett would have started his senior year of high school on Monday in Harker Heights, and his friends and classmates are planning a rally in his honor this Friday at 6 pm.

Anthony dove into Hamilton pool on Friday morning and did not resurface. First Responders arrived at the swimming hole just after 10:30 am to find Dorsett who had been pulled from the pool.

Killeen ISD released a statement of condolences to Dorsett's family and classmates. They will have extra counselors on hand for students and staff.

Dorsett was flown to UMC Barackenridge before he passed away early Saturday morning. Hamilton Pool has been a popular swimming hole since the 60's, located about 20 miles outside of Austin.

Students at Harker Heights HS are planning a remembrance rally for Friday evening. The location has not been decided on yet.

There have been over 80 drowning-related deaths in Texas so far this summer.
