Renowned grief counselor, author, and educator Alan D. Wolfelt, PD. D. will host two free seminars in Temple and Belton later this month.

Anyone dealing with grief and mourning the loss of a loved one, as well as caring for a grief stricken person, are invited to the first workshop at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home at 500 West Barton Avenue in Temple on Wednesday, September 20.

The program, titled 'Exploring Death, Grief, and Mourning: An Evening with Dr. Alen Wolfelt', will begin at 7 PM and end around 9 PM. There is no charge to attend, but you are asked to pre-register by calling Harper-Talasek at (254) 773-4564 or visiting harpertalasek.com.

The second seminar, 'The Art of Companioning the Mourner: Caring Versus Curing', will take place at the Harper Talasek Funeral Home at 503 North Main St. in Belton on Thursday, September 21. This workshop is scheduled from 9 AM to 12 PM and will be directed more toward grief counselors, clergy, social workers, educators, and caregivers.

Dr. Alan Wolfelt is presently the Director of the Center for Loss and Life Transition in Fort Collins, Colorado. He is a recipient of the Association for Death Education and Counseling's Death Educator Award, and is known throughout the United States and Canada for his educational contributions in the areas of both childhood and adult grief.

Dr. Wolfelt's written works include Understanding Your Grief: Ten Essential Touchstones for Finding Hope and Healing Your Heart; Companioning the Grieving Child: A Soulful Guide for Caregivers; Creating Meaningful Funeral Ceremonies: A Guide for Caregivers; and When Your Pet Dies.
