The mother of a cancer stricken 9-year-old boy is having to do the unthinkable - prepare for her son's passing. I can't even begin to imagine the horror of that scenario, but Michelle Simard and her son, Jacob Thompson, are staying courageous and trying to make the best of the time they still have together.

WTKR-TV reports that Jacob is undergoing treatment for stage 4 high risk neuroblastoma at the Barbara Bush Medical Center in Maine, and isn't expected to live to celebrate Christmas this year. His family is trying to give him an amazing early Christmas, and all of us can help.

Jacob's parents are asking the public to send their son Christmas cards. It's a simple enough request, and I think we can all appreciate how a flood of love and Christmas cheer could be a huge source of strength and comfort for a boy fighting for his life.

If you'd like to send Jacob a card, you can mail it to:

It looks like Jacob's already received several cards and gifts and from strangers wishing him well. Let's see if Central Texans can't flood his hospital room with some Christmas joy!
