A wildfire that began Sunday in Iron Gate Park just north of Belton Lake continued to burn Friday morning.

Wind shifts over the past few days have made things difficult for area firefighters working to contain the blaze. The fire jumped boundaries on Thursday and began making its way across the Leon River in the Moody-Leon Road area.

Property damage occurred on private land off Cowan Road, but no deaths or serious injuries have been reported. Fire crews continue to use bulldozers in an effort to stop the fire from advancing any further.

UPDATE:  3/11  According to KCEN, firefighters have fully contained the Iron Bridge Park fire. Texas Forest Service officials said Friday's rain helped bring the fire under control.
