Former Temple mayor pro tem Judy Morales officially resumed her seat on the city council Thursday, approximately five months after resigning. Morales was reelected as the representative of District 2 with 63% of the vote during a special election on Saturday, July 19.

After being sworn in, Morales said she could "breathe again", and looked forward to getting back to work. Council members who had called for Morales' resignation in March following accusations that she ordered the destruction of public documents expressed their acceptance of the choice of District 2 residents to reelect Morales.
