Katie Hopkins Attacks Kelly Clarkson Again Over Her Weight
Just weeks after tweeting negative comments about Kelly Clarkson's weight, a British journalist and TV personality has taken her attacks to television.
Katie Hopkins is a TV personality and writer for the Sun. She first called Clarkson out on Feb. 20, tweeting, "Jesus, what happened to Kelly Clarkson? Did she eat all of her backing singers? Happily I have wide-screen." She added, "Darling, if you had a baby a year ago, that is not baby weight. It is fat. Quit calling it cute names to make yourself feel better."
The pop superstar and former American Idol champ laughed the incident off in an interview with Heat magazine, saying, "That's because she doesn't know me. I'm awesome! It doesn't bother me. It's a free world. Say what you will."
Clarkson — who gave birth to her daughter, River Rose, in June 2014 — clarified, "I've just never cared what people think. It's more if I'm happy and I'm confident and feeling good, that's always been my thing. And more so now, since having a family — I don't seek out any other acceptance."
In an appearance on Access Hollywood, Hopkins not only didn't apologize for her remarks, she doubled down, saying, "Ultimately, Kelly Clarkson is a chunky monkey. We can call it ‘baby weight,’ we can call it ‘puppy fat,’ we can call it ‘love handles,’ we can call it ‘muffin top,’ any of the nice and kind of soft and cuddly names we give it, but ultimately it’s fat. She’s fat. She needs to get out, eat less and move more."
Clarkson has not responded to Hopkins' latest taunts, but it's safe to say she'll take the high road. Asked what advice she would give River Rose and her 13-year-old stepdaughter, Savannah, she tells Heat, "You need to be happy with who you are and, whoever that is, let your little light shine."
