I love Kenny Chesney and his Island sound.  I guess listening to that style fulfills the, “I Need a Vacation!” side of me. I really wanna go and be in one of his videos. (Maybe when I lose 50 pounds).

So what is up with Kenny and the Islands? Even though he grew up in Tennessee, Kenny says he finds peace and inspiration in the Caribbean.  He has a house and keeps a boat on St. John in the Virgin Islands. I’m sure he has lots of friends there too.  And no Paparazzi!

My favorite Kenny Chesney Island inspired song, “Everybody Wants to Go to Heaven”.   According to my good friends at Wikipedia, the song was originally recorded by George Strait for his 2008 album “Troubadour”, but it didn’t make the album cut. Kenny then recorded his own version of the song, and released it as the first single from his studio album "Lucky Old Sun".

Set in a calypso orchestration with a slight reggae feel, Kenny is backed by The Wailers, who also sing the final chorus on the album version.  Even though some reviews gave it so-so ratings,  “Everybody Wants to Go to Heaven” is my favorite Kenny Chesney song. It did hit Number One!
