Killeen Burglar Showered and Cooked Meal Before Homeowner Returned
A Killeen man has bonded out of the Bell County Jail and faces a charge of burglary of a habitation after allegedly entering a home on Acron Drive Saturday, then having a shower, a meal, and a nap before being discovered by the owner of the home.
Paul Gately with KWTX-TV reports that 32-year-old Marcus Dewitt Starnes told police he'd recently been evicted from his apartment and entered the home through an unlocked garage door. A neighbor said Starnes stopped at her house around 2 PM to ask for water before walking in the direction of the home he entered illegally.
Homeowner Stella Terry discovered Starnes when she got home around 6:30 PM. She reportedly asked Starnes if she ought to call 9-1-1, to which he responded, "Yes, ma'am, I guess."
