Killeen ISD will again be feeding thousands of local children through its Summer Servings program.
The program, funded by the Texas Department of Agriculture, offers two free meals each day to children. The district will begin offering the meals at 16 locations in Killeen, Harker Heights, Fort Hood, and Nolanville to children between the ages of 1 and 18.
The on-campus program ends June 27, but meals will be offered at other locations during July and August. Meals will also be offered at community organizations such as the Armed Services YMCA and the Killeen Housing Authority.
Killeen ISD expects to serve about 11,300 meals each day, an increase from the 7,800 served last year.
