A Killeen man suspected of shooting another man in the head during an attempted robbery is now in custody and facing aggravated robbery charges.

Police say 20-year-old Kevin Donnell Williams Jr. approached a man and woman walking together in the 3800 block of Hitchrock Drive in the early hours of August 6 an demanded the two empty their pockets. When the man said he didn’t have anything, the suspect shot the man in the head and fled the scene on a bicycle he’d been riding.

Williams became a suspect when surveillance footage from showed a man riding a bicycle and wearing a red hooded sweatshirt and a bandana over his face entering a home in the 4200 block of Hitchrock near the time of the shooting. Police obtained a warrant to search that home on August 27. They found Williams in the home, and a red hooded sweatshirt and revolver were found in a bedroom.

One of five other people found in the home told police that Williams had told him he’d shot someone on the night of attack and had seen Williams ride away from the house on a bicycle, wearing the sweatshirt and a bandana over his face.

Williams has been arraigned with bond set at $100,000.

Another man found at that home – 25-year-old Malcolm Jamar Williams – was also arrested and charged with felony drug possession. Police found suspected cocaine atop a CD case in a car Malcolm Williams had left open as loud music blared from inside around 3 a.m. He's being held on $20,000 bond.
