An argument between brothers led to a deadly shooting in Killeen Thursday night.

Killeen police say a 51-year-old man was shot in the chest by his 55-year-old brother at a home in the 1600 block of Linda Lane. The two had been engaged in a verbal fight that escalated into physical violence ending in gunfire.

The deceased brother was pronounced dead shortly after arriving via ambulance at the Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center. The surviving brother was arrested and taken to the Killeen City Jail. The names of both men are being withheld until next of kin are notified and a review by the Bell County District Attorney’s Office can be conducted.

The case remains under investigation.
