The McDonald’s at Fort Hood Street and U.S. Highway 190 in Killeen will soon receive an upgrade.

The 39-year-old restaurant will close its doors Friday, April 12 in preparation for the construction of a new and improved building at the site. The new McDonald’s will open in August and feature an expanded drive-thru with two lanes and advanced order-taking technology. Managers say the change is necessary to accommodate the growing Central Texas population.

Meanwhile, another new McDonald’s is set to open at midnight on Wednesday, April 17 at midnight. Located at 4622 S. Fort Hood Street, the restaurant will offer Big Mac sandwiches for $1 until 4 a.m. as part of its grand opening.

Ronald McDonald and the Hamburglar will be there to pose for photos with the kids.
