Three people were injured Friday night after a Killeen police traffic pursuit ended with a motorcycle crash.

Officers attempted to stop 20-year-old Stacy Hardy, a Fort Hood soldier driving a 2015 Suzuki motorcycle, for speeding in the area of Fort Hood Street and Elms Road around 10 PM. Police say Hardy sped away, and a 10-minute-long chase ensued, during which the motorcycle reportedly reached speeds in excess of 100 mph.

Police say Hardy’s vehicle began weaving between cars before entering an intersection on Fort Hood Street, where it collided with a Dodge Caravan.

Hardy was thrown from his vehicle and came to rest over 100 feet east of the intersection. He was transported to Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center with life threatening injuries before being airlifted to Temple’s Baylor Scott & White Hospital.

KWTX reports that Hardy was pronounced dead at Scott & White shortly before 7:20 AM.

The driver and a passenger in the Dodge were also taken to Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. Another passenger was uninjured.

Killeen Police Spokesperson Carroll Smith said the department’s traffic unit was investigating the circumstances of the crash.
