Killeen Police Investigating Social Media Threats Aimed at Halloween Festivities
Killeen police are investigating after a person in a clown costume posted what they called "specific threats on social media regarding Halloween in Killeen".
In a news release, KPD Spokesperson Carroll Smith said the department has no reason to believe the threats are credible at this time, but that they are nonetheless disturbing and are being taken seriously.
"These threats are being thoroughly investigated," Smith wrote, "and although this post made no specific threats to the Killeen Independent School District, our department is working closely with KISD to keep them abreast of the situation."
Smith said the KPD will be patrolling Killeen neighborhoods on Halloween to ensure the safety of citizens.
"The safety of our community is the Killeen Police Department’s number one priority," wrote Smith. "We ask everyone to be aware of their surroundings and anyone with information regarding this or any other threats to public safety should contact the Killeen Police Department at 254-501-8800."
