Killeen police have released more information about a shooting that occurred less than two days before a string of shootings last Wednesday.

On Sunday, the department circulated a news release naming 20-year-old Derrick Ronell Thomas Jr. as a suspect in a recent shooting. The release said Thomas allegedly shot at an occupied vehicle, but did not specify where or when.

On Monday, the department responded to a Killeen Daily Herald request for more information about the alleged incident.

The Herald reports that the shooting took place on Monday, June 13 around 5 PM on the area of Elms and Robinett.

According to the Herald, police declined to comment on whether anyone in the vehicle was injured, nor did they say if the shooting was related to several shootings reported across Killeen last Wednesday morning.

No one was killed as a result of Wednesday morning's violence, but a woman was shot in the face and one man was shot in the hand.

Sunday's KPD news release mentioned that the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Texas' Department of Public Safety are assisting Killeen police in the investigation of the shooting involving Thomas.
