A woman was injured Monday night after shots were fired in a Killeen neighborhood.

Police responded to a report of shots fired in the 300 block of North 18th St around 11:50 PM.

According to KWTX-TV,  two men, at least one of them armed with a hand gun, were assaulting another man outside of a home when a neighbor, also armed with a handgun, confronted the attackers.

The two attackers reportedly pointed their gun at the neighbor, who then fired his weapon twice.

One of the rounds fired by the neighbor struck the windshield of a parked car, shattering the glass. A woman sitting in the car was injured by the shards.

The woman was treated at the scene, and police have not charged the neighbor.

Neither suspect was injured. Police say they and the victim fled the scene.

Anyone with information about the suspects or the man who was attacked is urged to contact the Killeen Police Department at (254) 501-8830.
