The Rogers and Little River Fire Departments spent most of the day Monday responding to multiple grass fires along an area off Highway 190.

Bell County Fire Marshall Steve Casey told Temple Daily Telegram that several small grass fires have been started by an unknown person or persons who may be using gasoline.

Not only do our firefighters have better things to do, but it's also lucky that it's been raining off and on the past week or this story could have ended up much worse. Luckily, all the fires got put out today and no person or property was injured.

Fire Marshall Casey said both fire departments responded to multiple fires today along Highway 190 and Pritchard Road Monday. Many of these fires burned in a straight line which is why officials think gasoline or lighter fluid may be in use.

Officials are asking the public to keep an eye out for anything suspicious, and if residents see any vehicles that don't belong, to try and get the license plate number.

Since Thursday, the Rogers fire department has responded to seven such fires, and the Little River-Academy fire department has put out six of them. Most of the activity has been happening near FM 436 by Three Forks Road and near Oliver Road. Firefighters also put out fires near Highway 190 and Hunt Hill Road.
