A Killeen man was arraigned Saturday after causing injuries to a child with a belt.

The injured child, along with several others, was left in the care of 29-year-old Trevis Akeem Miller at a home in the 1300 block of Quail Circle Thursday while the child’s mother and another woman were shopping. According to an arrest affidavit, Miller sent a text message to the other woman indicating that the children were out of his control. The child’s mother dropped the woman off at the home, but was called back an hour later and asked to pick up her child.

When the mother arrived, she noticed several injuries to her child. She took the boy to a fire station nearby and notified police. An investigator observed injuries on the child’s arms and legs, shoulders, stomach and buttocks.

Miller told police in a statement that he hit the child with a belt. He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Garland Potvin Saturday with bond set at $100,000.
