Local Restaurant Closes Doors Due in Part to I-35 Construction

A local restaurant famous for its traditional choices has shut down as of Thursday night.

Raymond's Southern Kitchen in Lorena, best known for its comfort food, has been challenged by the construction along I-35 for years, but they somehow managed as they built a strong following within the community. However, when it was time to reinvest this year, owner Raymond Carter said he couldn't afford it, according to our news partner KWTX.

Construction's been real tough on us for a couple of years, but we kind of made it through that and now it's time to reinvest and I just don't have the capital to do that.

Loyal customers were sad to hear that it would be the last time they dine at the establishment. Carter said the hardest part is saying goodbye.

Many other businesses are taking blows along I-35 as the expansion construction makes it difficult to access certain venues.
