Luke Bryan was nothing short of shocked on Sunday night's (May 13) Mother's Day episode of American Idol, when his mom made an unannounced visit live on the show.

There was lead-up to the surprise, however, when Bryan's mom LeClaire sent what seemed to be a taped message to her son.

"Hi Luke," she started in the clip. "I miss you here on Mother’s Day. (I) wish I could be with you. I’m having a good day down here at the beach. Wish you were here with me. I’m very proud of you. I’m getting excited about the night. I get to watch American Idol one more time. Love you. Call you in the morning. I have something to tell you about fishing."

While everyone in the audience had a good chuckle and Bryan began explaining just how important fishing is in the family, LeClaire could be seen sneaking up behind him, eventually revealing herself and embracing her boy.

"She got me," Bryan said, looking bewildered that his mom was actually there with him. "This is like too many emotions in one day."

Fans could tell that Bryan wasn’t quite over the moment even after the show, as Bryan tweeted out a pic of the moment to his followers. Of course, this emotional moment was one of many on the May 13 episode of American Idol. Not only did Carrie Underwood return to the show that made her a star to both mentor the contestants and perform live but also, the Top 3 finalists were announced.

(Spoiler alert: the Top 3 contestants heading to the American Idol finale are Caleb Lee Hutchinson, Gabby Barrett and Maddie Poppe.)
