A memorial plaza dedicated to slain American Sniper Chris Kyle is set to be unveiled in Odessa Thursday.

The Chris Kyle Memorial Plaza in Kyle's home town will officially open to the public at 11 AM, July 28, OA Online reports.

Kyle's widow, Taya, will attend the ceremony, along with Congressman Mike Conaway and doctor Sudip Bose, who served as a physician in the Second Battle of Fallujah, in which Kyle also served.

Country singer and Odessa native Larry Gatlin will sing the national anthem.

The plaza will feature a 15-foot-tall statue of Kyle designed by Wyoming-based artist Vic Payne. The statue will sit atop a 48,000-pound limestone base.

The plaza will be surrounded by four trees from George W. Bush's Crawford ranch.

Chris Kyle was a Navy SEAL who served four tours in Iraq and is considered the most lethal sniper in American history. He and friend Chad Littlefield were gunned down by Eddie Ray Routh outside a shooting range in Erath County, Texas in 2013. Kyle's funeral procession was the longest in Texas' history.

Kyle's life and legacy were the inspiration for the Clint Eastwood film American Sniper,.
