Police Officer Opens Fire on a Minivan Full of Kids

I saw this on the News last night. it actually happened on October 28 in New Mexico. A Mom stopped for speeding with a minivan full of kids, takes off, stops and then takes off again after a scuffle with police. One of the cops ends up shooting at the van full of kids. 

Very Scary!  Of course the driver should have complied, and her son should have stayed in the car. But the cop who jumped out and started shooting, that don't seem right, Somehow!

What do you think about the shots fired? Justified or Overkill?
